Peter Dawson, the chief executive of the golf governing body, says that that Rory McIlroy, the current world number one, will be the next huge golfing star. While the 23 year old golfer is enjoying his recent golfing successes, Tiger Woods is still fighting to get back his top form.

Dawson said that each generation has their own star and Rory is a young guy whereas Tiger is in his mid-thirties – Rory is the future. It has taken a while for ory’s game to have the consistencey needed to compete at the very top, and Rory took part in a whole lot of tours coming through like this.

It is also a very good time for British golf as well as European golf as so many golfers from this continent is playing very well at tour events in recent years.

Comparisons with Tiger should be held off for the time being – Rory McIlroy won the US Open 2011, whereas Tiger last won a major in the year 2008 at the US Open, but has a massive 13 Major titles. Tiger is also the most popular golfer, and the one that TV companies are very interested in.

Dawson also added that it is quite interesting to see the return of the Irish Open this year, and noticed that the course have done well as far as ticket sales are concerned. It is quite an interesting place from all kinds of points, but there some aspects of the course that would be very tough for huge crowds.

Dawson added that he was pleased to see so many English and local players at the top of the British Open betting.

There have been many partners and pairings for Tiger Woods over the years, but probably the one player he has played with the most in his career is Steve Stricker, the man who has seen the rise and fall of the former world number one, be it as a team mate for the United States of America for the Ryder Cup or as an opposition from across the field and if there is anyone who knows the plays of Tiger the best, it probably has to be Stricker.

And as if fate has intervened once again to resurrect the career of Tiger Woods, he has been paired together with Stricker again for the third round of the World Golf Championships: Cadillac Championships, being held at Doral in Miami in the United States of America and the scheduled tee off for the pair is at 11.25 am on the famous TPC Blue Monster. Steve Stricker, who is one of the best friends of Woods off the golfing circuit was also visibly excited when the pairing was announced, commenting that it was just like the old times when they were paired together most of the times, most famously for four consecutive rounds in the Tour Championships of 2007.

The pair was tied at 5 under par 139 after Stricker had hit a 70 and Woods had a shot of 67. Steve Stricker, who has previously admitted to being intimated by The Tiger during the first few times they were paired together way back in the 1990s has admitted in jest that his friend is not in the best of forms at the moment and the fact that he has been paired with him might turn out to be a blessing in disguise for Tiger who might get some of the magic putting touch from Stricker as well.

Anthony Kim has long been known for his wild side, but the effects of it are coming out all too often these days. Even more worryingly, it has started showing up in his professional career as well.

The latest of his crazy ventures happened at Las Vegas where he partied like crazy all night and arrived for the tournament championship game the following morning looking a little worse for wear. Anthony might deny all allegations against him saying that he does not mix his personal and professional life, but there is a growing pile of evidence that vouches for the fact.

His management company IMG has been very cautious when it comes to covering up the stories; however they still find it quite difficult to justify the reason for the injury on Anthony’s thumb which later led to him being admitted at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital.

Golf requires a lot of concentration, and Anthony Kim needs to keep this point in mind the night before a tournament starts. By not taking the tournaments seriously then he is cheating the fans, his fellow competitors, and himself.

Having such a reputation might not help him in the future as he will be not taken as a serious focused golfer. Celebrity brings with it added responsibility and Anthony should keep these in mind before going in for any future controversies which not only spoils him name, but also the management company involved with him, and the sport.

It was no wonder Kim’s odds drooped on the sports betting in-play markets, when he arrived at the course looking rough. Lets hope he doesn’t cost himself more winning opportunities in teh future.

It is the concluding week in which the golfers can grab points to reach into the top sixty-four of the OWGR (Official World Golf Ranking) that get the golfers to the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship and this is probably a reason why Jim Furyk is making this year’s PGA tour debut at the Pebble Beach this week.

It is quite unlikely that Jim Furyk, the number 59 ranked golfer will come out of the top sixty-four. He has made this event, at the Pebble Beach, one of his stops. He started the 2009 season there. Ever since 2001, Jim has taken part at Pebble each year, except for 2004 when he had an injury.

Golfers who are taking a break are Robert Allenby (ranked 64), Greg Chalmers (ranked 61) and Ernie Els (ranked 62). Other players such as Matteo Manassero (ranked 60) are taking part in the Dubai Desert Classic and 63rd ranked Kevin Na is at the Pebble Beach field.

The best outside chance, in the ranking bubble, belongs to the 65th ranked golfer Ryan Moore. He is now playing at Pebble. His performance has not been good in 3 starts this year, along with a tie for forty-second at the Humana Challenge which is his best ending. Last time he played in the Pebble Beach was in the year 2009 and he missed the cut.
Players with Georgia connection, qualified for the 22nd to 26th February Accenture Match Play Championship are Brandt Snedeker, Zach Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Jonathan Byrd and Bubba Watson.

Speaking about Pebble Beach event, all eyes will be on former world number one Tiger Woods. Last time he took part in this event was in the year 2002. He kept himself away from this because of unpredictable weather, long rounds and baffling poa annua greens.

Current World Number 1 Luke Donald will continue his pursuit of victory when he tees off at The National Course with brand new sets of clubs this morning, with his eyes set on the Falcon Trophy.

In spite of making history by being the very first player to hit the top of the money lists in both Europe and the United States in 2011, Donald is not one of the favourites for the Abu Dhabi Championship. This year has twelve major winners in the field, and Luke isn’t one of them! His plans to win one of these Majors this season has led him to change twelve of the fourteen clubs in his bad before this brand new campaign, including a new driver.

Luke hasn’t taken part in Abu Dhabi since 2008, and will go straight back in at the deep-end – he is paired in a group with Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods!

Speaking of the record, Luke insists that he has no added pressure in attempting to keep it up this year too – and he takes any pressure there is to perform as a nice sign of being successful. His job is to keep attempting to do the same things as he did last year, and continue to play confident golf.

His aims this season are to try and contend for the Majors, and also to improve his driving, which is something Jack Nicklaus told him he needs to do.

According to the latest US Masters betting, Donald is one of the favourites, though much depends on the form of the likes of Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood.

Steve Stricker has had quite some good news in a while where he managed to win the Tournament of three championship by a total of 3 strokes on Monday.

He was in quite a fix to win this gae because he did not manage to convert all the five shot leads and lost all of it in total of six holes. However, call it luck or talent, but just when he was about to get unglued and lose hope, there came two back to back birdies which was quite a hit and helped him restore back his position in the game and make a name for himself.

Steve Stricker finished off the game from then on with a 4 under 69 and managed to make it his 12th career win. He held back his tears post his victory which is quit a shocking phenomenon as he is known to allow his tears to freely flow as this is a sign of his happiness and contentment. This was his 9th PGA tour since him past 40 and has been the 8th title that he won in the past 50 tournaments that he has participated in.

Steve Stricker did put in quite a bit of effort to ensure that he made it to the top and has even mentioned it at the end that it was quite tough to ensure that he pulled up from his deteriorating performance to manage to rise above the rest and reach the peak position. He felt great though to get a warm hug and comfort feel from his family and loved ones as this helps him to understand their importance and this also makes him feel important.
